What qualifies

Connected to solar — new or existing panels. Grid-only batteries don't count.

Accredited installer, approved battery — ask for both to be confirmed on the quote.

Homes, small businesses and community groups can all get it.

Questions

Do I need solar panels?+

Yes. The discount is for batteries connected to new or existing solar. A battery that only charges from the grid doesn't qualify.

How do I get the discount?+

You don't apply yourself. The discount comes through the scheme's certificates and is usually shown as a reduction on your installer's quote — so compare quotes after the discount.

What size batteries are covered?+

Batteries from 5 kWh to 100 kWh. The discount is calculated on up to the first 50 kWh of usable capacity, and it tapers for larger batteries.

Who can install it?+

The installer must be accredited for the scheme and the battery must be an approved model. Ask your installer to confirm both on the quote.

Why does 1 January matter?+

The discount per kWh steps down every six months. From 1 January 2027 it's about 16% lower than it is now, and it drops again on 1 July 2027.

Compare quotes before the rush

Installers fill up before a step-down. Post the job now, compare quotes from licence-checked locals, and deal with them directly. Your phone number stays private until you choose someone.
